As if Dec 19, 2024….a message from the compounding pharmacy:
Dear Valued Customer,
We are writing to inform you about the recent FDA announcement regarding the Tirzepatide shortage. As your trusted pharmacy partner, we have been closely monitoring the situation and collaborating with the Alliance for Pharmacy Compounding, a vital advocate for compounders and the medical community we serve.
The FDA has a provided a 60-day transition period for compounding pharmacies allowing compounding of Tirzepatide until February 19th 2025.
APC has voiced the concerns of compounding pharmacies that the FDA's decision may not fully address the ongoing shortage, citing continued reports from pharmacies of insufficient quantities of FDA-approved Tirzepatide drugs available from wholesalers. APC also notes that the FDA's announcement may not be the final word, as litigation is still ongoing.
We want to assure you that we are doing everything possible to minimize disruptions to your treatment and will provide updates as necessary in an effort to ensure patient care is not disrupted.

I check messages often, but will respond to nonurgent messages in 48 hours. If it is truly urgent, you can always text my cell so I get an additional notification.

For now, I am available to my patients 7 days a week, however I DO have to sleep, eat, exercise, go to church, spend time with my family, etc. (LOL!) So - I get a notification if you send me a message through here or if you Request a Medication from your dashboard. I try to respond to messages in between my other patients, and if I see an urgent need, I will try to respond quickly. If for some reason I don’t respond within 24 hours, please message me again! Or sooner if you need me ASAP. Please understand that I never want to ignore something that is important to YOU! If you are not feeling well, I definitely do not want you to wait!!! (I have a lot of patients who work night shifts, so messaging on here anytime is fine…..I will receive the notification in morning)
Messages can easily get buried on here when things get busy, but I NEVER want to miss your message! And it can get VERY busy....so forgive my typos, my talk-to text blunders, and if I seem abrupt I'm probably just moving fast :) Once a patient is established with my practice, I can offer telephone and video consultations as well as provide you my cell number for texting or calling in an emergency.

For my weight management program- All the weight loss plans require reevaluation and update every month. (Not everyone qualifies for everything.)
As long as some dosages of Mounjaro, Zepbound, Wegovy and Ozempic are in short supply, the FDA will allow the compounded generic options. I only utilize FDA inspected and approved compounding pharmacies.
Lately, some compound pharmacies I recommend have improved their turnaround times for me (specifically for semaglutide, tirzepatide, and BioBoost Plus) to 7 business days!
Regarding Mounjaro, Zepbound, Wegovy and Ozempic, if you think you have insurance coverage for these meds and you qualify medically for one of these medications, I will write this prescription for you, but I cannot guarantee that any pharmacy has it or that any insurance company will pay for it yet. So keep that in mind when you agree to pay my service fee. My service fees are not refundable. But know the compounded generic options ARE available. Thanks!
Regarding needing a Prior Authorization for a medication: So I’m sure you understand I can’t do a prior authorization on a medication until it is prescribed. So when you are ready, request the medication here. If it is medically appropriate for you, I’ll prescribe it, and when the pharmacy receives the prescription, they will attempt to run it through your insurance, and a prior authorization will be initiated by the pharmacy. Then I receive the part that I need to complete (as the prescriber) and we go from there. I may need recent lab results to complete it for you so try to get those or I can order for you.
Also, depending on the complexity of your prior authorization process, I may have to charge patients for my time. Since I’m not a provider for your insurance company, and you are using my services outside of your insurance, I have no easy access to all of the information I will need to gather to complete the PA. Some of the prior authorizations take well over an hour plus multiple faxes and phone calls on my part. Hopefully it won’t be difficult! But, I will be upfront with you. If it is a “simple” PA, that's great and there is no additional charge. But if it ends up being super complex, I will invoice you for my service fee once it gets to that point. I will be very transparent with you about that. Some insurance companies will rule on the PA within 72 hours, while others take 30 days.
For most of my patients, the Push Health “app” is the best way to use the features on here, but you can use a computer as well. You can download the app at any time. There is a new Android update so that should help my Android patients.
